Strandhill is a premier holiday location in the north west, only 10 minutes drive from Sligo town. Reknowned as a surfing beach, it has hosted numerous international surfing competitions through the years and it's very popular with beginning surfers. There's also an 18 hole links golf course close by, with another across the bay at Rosses Point. On the other side of the imposing Knocknarea mountain is Carrowmore, one of Irelands most significant neolithic cemeteries. Nearby is McGarrys riding stables providing indoor and cross country courses.
